Love is in the Air and so is the smell of Cinnamon - Recipe

Valentines Day ❤❤❤ Someone, somewhere out there is getting married, proposals, in love, is loved. Some got flowers, chocolates, breakfast in bed, jewelry and so on...

I got roses and chocolate, wohooooooo!!! I never get flowers, which is my fault since I really am not a flower person. I would rather take that money and buy shoes. LOL! I do love my bouquet of roses though. I also got cards from my babes as well.

I didn't get any for my hubby, well I got him a card. No presents from me, but I made him some home made Cinnamon rolls :-) Just to let you know the recipe below makes a lot, and I mean a lot. I made half of what the recipe calls for and I ended up with 15 big rolls. So if you are having company over then make the recipe. If not make half. Oh, heck, I will post both half and the whole recipe so you don't have to figure it out.

Yeast in warm water and let it sit.

Mix vegetable shortening (Crisco), sugar, salt to hot water and cool to lukewarm.

Stir in 2 cups of flour and mix till smooth. Add the yeast and mix again until smooth.

Use the hook for this and scrape the side.

Knead by hand in floured surface.

Knead until dough is smooth, let it sit for 30 minutes.

The goodies you need for the filling, yum!!!! Butter, raisins, light brown sugar, cinnamon.

You have to roll the dough into a rectangular shape, spread the butter and cover the dought entirely, sprinkle brown sugar, raisins and then the cinnamon (don't skimp)

Roll into a log, the long way and try to roll it tight or it will fall apart while slicing. You can slice with a really sharp knife or use an unflavored floss or string. Place side by side and let rise until double in size.

Then bake and wait, smelling the cinnamon all over the house.

Wait for it to cool and then you can frost.

You can frost individually or spread the whole top part of the rolls.

Don't wait for anyone to dig in, he didn't. LOL!

Here's what you need:
This is for the whole recipe
  • 2 pkg. yeast(4 1/2 tsp.) dissolve in 1 cup lukewarm water
  •
6 tbsp. of shortening, Crisco
  •
1 cup sugar
  •
8 cups flour or more if needed
  •
2 cups hot water

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1 stick (8 tbsp.) Softened butter

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  •
2 cups raisins, you can add more if you like
  •
Cinnamon, it would be your choice if you sprinkle a lot or not.
This one is cut in half, just in case you don't want to make so much. This yields to 15 cinnamon rolls.
  • 1 pkg yeast (2 1/4 tsp.) dissolve in 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  •
3 tbsp. of shortening, Criso
  •
1/2 cup sugar
  •
4 cups flour or more if needed
  •
1 cups hot water

  • 1 eggs, beaten

  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tbsp. softened butter

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  •
1 cup raisins
  •
Cinnamon, it would be your choice if you sprinkle a lot or not.
Glaze: Just split in half if using the small batch
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 to 6 tablespoons hot water
Instruction:
  • Add the yeast to cup of lukewarm water and sprinkle in a little sugar. Set aside for about 10 minutes.

  • Add the shortening, sugar, and salt to hot water and cool to lukewarm.
  • Stir in half of flour and mix until smooth.
  • Add the yeast mixture and mix again until smooth then add the beaten eggs.

  • Stir in the remaining flour, little by little until no longer needed and the dough is not sticking to the side of the bowl.
  • Remove from the mixer and knead by hand, adding flour until dough does not feel sticky anymore and dough feels satiny and looks smooth.
  • Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Lightly knead and roll out into rectangular shape. Spread with softened butter. Sprinkle brown sugar, raisins, and cinnamon.
  • Roll into one long roll. To cut use a piece of string or unflavored floss.
